It is often said that institutions are not made by themselves but man made institutions and transform them in a better shapes and forms and to ensure that this transformation is being done such an institution must have a better leadership with the person that has the vision and determination.
The Magbontoso police Station (Mile 38) has received a facelift under the dynamic leadership of Deputy Superintendent Isatu G. Fofana under the supervision of the dynamic Local Unit Commander Chief Superintendent Fatmata Susan Kamara.
The station has not been in good form with poor facilities ranging from lack of light, cabinet, unclean surroundings, poor administrative support among others. However, the Local Unit Commander in her wisdom thought it wise to send a dynamic woman to change the narrative.
Barely few months in office, DSP Isatu G. Fofana has been able to bring in transformation by providing solar panels which now provide light to the station, the tattered ground has now been tied, and cabinet file keeping installed, toilets now in good shape. This had helped to bring back respect and dignity to all serving personnel in the station.
In a snap interview with Deputy Superintendent Isatu G. Fofana she said first and foremost she believes in gender empowerment since what a man can do a woman can also do if she is given the opportunity and support, dilating further, she said she has borrowed leaves of development from her boss who is a woman and also being the Local Unit Commander at the Masiaka Police Station ie. Chief Superintendent Fatmata Susan Kamara who she said has been working and continues to work assiduously to change the face of Masiaka Police Station.
In that direction she said she being the Officer Commanding for the Magbontoso Police Station, both of them want to see results. DSP Fofana revealed that her boss gave her the first support with two gallons of paint among others when “I told her about my project.”
She inspired me to do my best despite the changes ahead. Later, some well-wishers such as the LV-Yuan Fortinuat Solar Factory Management at Songo came with a helping hand by providing solar light panels which is being enjoyed by the station today. She further revealed that her administration cannot work without a team work since she has a skeleton staff and the task ahead is enormous. In that direction, she said the Family Support Unit under the Line Manager Inspector Ayo Williams and staffs have been very much supportive to her administration since she is always willing both day and night to give out personnel whenever the need arises.
To further add value to my administrative techniques I make sure I call on parade where I and my personnel discuss relevant issues pertaining to policing work, I advised them as to how we should work as a team for the benefit of the communities we serve to the best of our ability.
Asked what are her challenges and vision, she said her main challenges are lack of personnel and mobility since her area of operations has vast town and villages to reach out to. Her vision she said is to see that crime is reduce drastically; people go to bed safe and sound. Above all, DSP Isatu G. Fofana said she is working in line with community policing strategy which is modern policing system practice everywhere in the world.
