School authorities including other disgruntled residents in the Mange Bureh Chiefdom, Porto Loko District in the north have locked horns with their Paramount Chief Bai Inga Marray (II) by expressing total regret for having him in the throne.
This despondent group of chiefdom people alleged that since Paramount Chief Bai Inga Marray II of Mange Chiefdom attained power after a highly contested election between him and his uncle Mohamed Kamara (Tormentor) he has become like a thorn in the flesh of his people who are constantly accusing him of despotism.
“We are really surprised about his attitude towards us since we voted him, thinking that as a very young man he will work in our interest but he has turned against us”, they lamented. They furthered that the chief has gone down so low by interfering into the operations of schools authorities in the chiefdom plotting the dismissal of principals and other authorities that he perceived as people that are not in his good books; as well as harassing all class of people including school pupils.
However, Paramount Chief Bai Inga on the other hand denied these allegations, adding that he only has problem with the Principal of Ishan Academy in his chiefdom for which he has written a letter to the mission in which he highlighted all the problems and grievances from him and some teachers. “I am the custodian of the law in this land which is why I will pursue the interest of my people he stated.
Yet, additional related investigation with some senior authorities at Ishan International Mission recently referred to the chief’s remarks as unfortunate, adding that they have dealt with all of them together with the chief himself long ago; but they are wandering why he still held on them as trump cards to vent out grievances.
They also claimed that the school has about 27 teachers, but only three of them are pin-coded, adding that the school has board members who oversee the activities of the principal; which makes it extremely difficult for him to tamper with any monies as alleged.
They also added that the mission do not want the acrimony to continue, since they are one family in the same chiefdom which is why they are doing all they can to rekindle their relationship.
