Reliable sources have informed this medium that one Mary Bangura has escaped few days ago in fear of Bondo society women.

Mary Bangura, according to sources was supposed to inherit her mother’s position in the Bondo society as Chief ‘Sowei’ but refused.

In Sierra Leone when a chief ‘Sowei’ dies, her daughter is primarily targeted to replace her in the society.

Report say, at the time of her mother’s death she was not matured. Matters became worse for Mary when she attained the matured age to take over from her deceased mother.

Bangura, reports stated, was captured by ‘Soweis’ in her bedroom at night and took her in the society bush for initiations but escaped.

Report furthered that ‘Soweis’ became more furious when Mary Bangura escaped from the society bush.

She was later spotted in Freetown after she escaped from villages where the initiation was to have taken place.

Mary Bangura, reports continued had told her mother even before her death that she was not going to inherit her position.

Traditionally, there is no option for Mary’s replacement as immediately her mother passed away; she was to automatically be the next to take over the leadership.

According to credible report, Mary Bangura shockingly escaped to Freetown where she sought refuge for some weeks because of the continuous threat from Bondo society women.

Her house, report say was raided several times in search of her and she was nowhere to be found.

Mary Bangura report said was taken to the Bondo society bush alongside lots of children who were also reportedly initiated.

Report furthered that Mary’s disappearance has caused serious problem for them as Soweis’ are threatening to kill them if they failed to produce Mary Bangura.

Independent sources revealed that the situation became worst when Mary Bangura was spotted in Freetown but never returned for initiations.

However, matters of initiations were never reported to the police stations because Bondo society initiations are never criminalized in Sierra Leone.

Mary Bangura, sources pointed out that she got missing and she is nowhere to be found.

There is a clarion call by advocates for prompt intervention to save them from the threat of the society women.
