Some aggrieved workers at the Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU) have vowed to resist what they perceived as “illegal sacking” of them by the university administration.
They’ve made a rejoinder to disclaim a ridiculous newspaper caption which states, “MMTU Reconciles with Aggrieved Lecturers”.
“We viewed such a statement as false, preposterous and misleading.
We the Concerned staff still maintain our position that the Vicce Chancellor and Principal has allegedly illegally sacked over 300 workers of us and therefore, we are seeking for a review of such a unilateral action taken, which, we deem, as illegitimate and a gross violation of the Universities Act and Protocols.”
The aggrieved staff have maintained that they are writing to make it abundantly clear that there is no form of reconciliation reached,”so far between us and the MMTU administration”.
“Our leadership will inform you on any subsequent developments regarding this issue, they told the media.
“We, the aggrieved lecturers, had met with the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education, for which an amicable resolution was agreed, but to say we have reached a reconciliation with the university as the newspaper had claimed is false.”
“Therefore, we continue to stand firm on our decision until our demands are being met.”
