Even when he said that he will go to the Well of Parliament to be sworn in as a member of parliament, some well meaningful Sierra Leoneans never thought that it could be. But those who actually know his true character trait never doubted on his words believing that he will do just as said.
Prior to the big day, he was interviewed by numerous media and he still maintained his words of going there as the sole MP of the opposition party, the All People’s Congress. If only he had failed to go, his words could have dried up in the mud.
And even when the Clerk of the well called upon him to take his oath, there were Sierra Leoneans who were still left in utmost bewilderment if truly he defied the decision reached by his party to boycott the swearing of members elected for the sixth session of parliament.
Today, Hon. Mohamed Bangura has been seen to live by his words and which to him did not happen as a surprise to flout the decision of his almighty party to the dismay of members and supporters as well those whom he put on suspense till the fateful had come to pass. Now Mohamed Bangura is an honourable member of parliament despite facing series of ill thoughts by a vast majority of Sierra Leoneans. Within his party, Hon. Mohamed Bangura has proven to be something else that needed to be dealt with, especially like a difficult character in a tragedy. He proved to his party that he does things as planned and it is left with the party to judge his character in either way in fulfillment of his thoughts and words.
There is nothing new in the politics that Hon. Mohamed Bangura has just shown to the people and the APC party to boycott a unanimous decision in pursuit of power that he has tasted and felt the sweetness and he is not ready to swallow any bitter pills in politics in the name of a political party. His latest actions, according to some schools of thoughts have been linked to what he will do as MP which will be to boycott promises made to those who voted for him. It is now a straight to the point discussion that he will do whatever he thinks good for his benefit and will not mind their business. He is strongly linked to Judas Iscariot in the New Testament Bible, who sold his Master for his own personal gains considering less about reactions. A reflection of his deeds is what has crippled this country by learning from the past and making it anew.
Even when he landed in parliament on that very day, those from the ruling side, the SLPP, did not held their astonishment for long because they were keen to see if he will betray his words. The one side of the isle gave a thunderous welcome to Mr. Bangura, believing him to be the part two of ‘Tok and Do’ in Sierra Leone’s politics.
Similarly so, President Bio and Hon. Mohamed Bangura, according to political commentators have shared the same attitude and attribute in politics. Some of these political analysts have just described them to be of the same nature that is whatever they say in politics, so shall it be. During his campaign re-run as president, Julius Bio told that he will win the elections without any run-off, and there was no run-off, thus the foul cried by the other side was none of his business.
When President Maada Bio aired that he will defeat his opponent with a landslide victory and will score more than the threshold limit, those who knew him too well were not stunned, but were eager to see if he will back down on his words and they live to see his words yielded dividend. Moreover, the words of President Bio and compared to Hon. Mohamed Bangura one will begin to think if there is something underneath that binds them in politics as the only difference they are sharing is that they did not sleep in the same womb but are not dissimilar in politics.
Article 55 of the APC 2022 new constitution, calls for punitive action to be taken against any member that is found wanting of anti-party activity.
What remains to be seen by the general membership of the APC is what line of action that will be taken against Hon. Mohamed Bangura since he was not elected to represent himself but the banner of APC.
However, sources say he will be protected by the hierarchy of Parliament for his decision to boycott his party’s stance to take oath as a member of the sixth parliament.
