Momoh Kamara, Sierra Leone U-20 captain, is emerging as one of Sierra Leone’s most outstanding young stars at the 2025 AFCON U-20 tournament in Egypt. He has won his second award as Man of the Match.
Kamara, who plays for Minnesota United, played a key role in Sierra Leone’s 1-0 victory over Tanzania on matchday three, thus earning him the best player accolade for that game.
He is currently leading the tournament’s goal chart with three goals.
For the first time, Salone has now advancing to the AFCON U-20 quarterfinals after Egypt’s goalless draw with Zambia which confirmed Sierra Leone’s qualification to the next round.
Kamara’s leadership has been helpful in the team’s achievement.
“Our ultimate dream is to take Sierra Leone to its first-ever U-20 World Cup in Chile,” Kamara said. “I’m ready to give everything on the pitch to make that happen.”
With one group match to be played against South Africa, the team has already secured a place in the knockout stage.
A win in the quarter-finals could secure their spot at the 2025 U-20 World Cup.
