Abdul Conteh made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road court No.2 on one count charge by obtaining money by false pretences contrary to section 32 (1) of the larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on the 19th December 2024 at Bottom Mango Wilberforce in Freetown, the accused obtained from Musa Kamara one blue Star TVS Motor bike value twenty four thousand two hundred and fifty Leones(24,250) by falsely pretending that the said money was going to be used for commercial purposes and promised to pay the complainant.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused person, the accused pleaded guilty.
The accused was not legally represented.
The prosecuting counsel J Gerber said he had no previous conviction record against the accused.
He said they are in negotiations with the accused for him to pay for the motor bike in question.
Magistrate Bangura delivered his judgment saying the accused is a first time offender and has not wasted the court time and the defense counsels agreed to allow him pay for the motor bike in question.
He was asked to pay a fine of five hundred Leones or services three years imprisonment, and was also ordered to pay for the motor bike in question immediately.
