The entire board and management of the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (SLCB) are really hacked off by the numerous attempts by some media practitioners to blackmail the leadership of the bank over the procurement of official and operational vehicles for the People’s Bank.
In an exclusive interview with the SLCB Corporate Affairs Director, Victor Baindoma, Esq., confirmed that the procurement of an official vehicle for the Managing Director of the bank and fifteen operational vehicles is a blessing to the financial institution as huge sums of money will be saved and which will be reflected in the upcoming bank balance sheet.
As a legal luminary, Director Victor Baindoma, Esq., declined to comment on the purchase of the vehicles as a result of the ongoing investigation into the procurement process by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), but he said the entire board and management of SLCB are very pleased with the procurement process as the fifteen operational vehicles will also save the management of billions of Leone which had been expended on hiring private vehicles for its diverse operations.
Director Baindoma, Esq., assured that despite several attempts by some journalists to blackmail the leadership of the bank for selfish and unpatriotic reasons, the vehicles in questioned are highly standard, and have no mechanical faults, and will serve the bank for years to come.He sent a message to journalists attempting to blackmail SLCB that the board and management have nothing to hide because the procurement process for the vehicles was handled purely by the procurement department of the bank and not the board or management of the bank, adding that SLCB is currently on good footing with regards to the huge profits the financial institution is making, citing the Le132 billion that the bank made in 2022 after pretax.Director Baindoma Esq. described SLCB as the first indigenous commercial bank in Sierra Leone and 100% owned by the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL), adding that all staff members of the bank are Sierra Leonean citizens.
He assured that having clocked fifty years since its establishment in 1973, SLCB is here to stay and to deliver, and no amount of attempted blackmail will dampen the resolve of the bank to continue in delivering value, living up to the expectations of Sierra Leoneans.
