Yusif Turay a businessman, Ibrahim Thullah an agent, Ishmael Nat Thomas a businessman, Hassan Gibril Kargbo a businessman, Alhaji Santigie Sesay a businessman and Sheriff Osman Sankoh made their first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 on three count charges to wit conspiracy to defraud contrary to law and two count ranging from Larceny by Servant contrary to section 17 (1) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on a date unknown between Monday 24th and 25th March 2025 at various Access Banks Sierra Leone Limited Branches the western area in Freetown with intent to defraud conspired together with other persons unknown and defrauded Orange Mobile Finance Limited the total sum of nineteen million, eight hundred and seventy eight thousand, three hundred and sixty leones (19,878,360).
Count two further stated that on the same date and place, the accused being an agent operating orange mobile money for Orange Mobile Finance Limited, using orange money wallet to bank transaction platform, stole the total sum of nineteen million eight hundred and seventy eight thousand three hundred and sixty Leones (Le19,878,360) from bank account number 0010160000326 operated by Orange Money Wallet Collection, property of Orange Mobile Finance Limited.
Count three further stated that on the same date at Rotifunk Lungi, Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom in the Port Loko District, in the North West Region of Freetown being agents operating orange mobile money for Orange Mobile Finance Limited, using Orange Money Wallet to bank transaction platform, stole the total sum of nineteen million eight hundred and seventy eight thousand three hundred and sixty Leones (Le19,878,360) from bank account number 0010160000326 operated by Orange Money Wallet Collection, property of Orange Mobile Finance Limited.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused persons no plea taken.
The defense counsel renewed and adopted his previous bail applications on behalf of the accused persons
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura granted bail to the accused persons in the form of one hundred and fifty with two sureties in like sum who must be responsible citizens resident in Freetown and each of the sureties must be gainfully employed and bail to be approved by the Deputy Assistant aster and Registrar and matter adjourned to 29th April, 2025.
