The Managing Director of the National Medical Supplies Agency (NMSA) Md. Jattu Abdulai and Board of Directors of the NMSA chaired by Alhaji Murtada Sesay have blatantly shown disregard for administrative procedure binding any office.

As per procedure, when the head of an agency is going on official leave, in the case of NMSA, the Managing Director, the deputy or a senior director is left in charge of the day-to-day running of the institution.

However, when the Managing Director of NMSA was proceeding on leave, she convinced the board to allow her bring the Chief Pharmacist of the Directorate of Pharmaceutical Services to act in her stead until she resumes in June.

The incompetence or complicity of the board of NMSA whose Chairman Alhaji Murtada Sesay has come under scrutiny, not for the first time. NMSA remains the only government entity whose Director of Operation is also from outside the institution.

Md. Jattu Adbulai in connivance with the board, brought someone to act as Director of Operation who is not a staff member of the institution but a member of the Directorate of Pharmaceutical Services.

It seems the NMSA is a fiefdom run by Md. Jattu Adbulai and a few board members. The job of Deputy Managing Director of NMSA remains unoccupied with the current MD serving in both capacities.

This has raised eye brows within and without the office. The board has come under questioning for allowing such gross administrative abuses to go unchecked.
