Credible sources have revealed to the Africa24 that, Musu Jalloh, a nurse on the 10th July, 2023 left Freetown to attend a burial ceremony of her grandmother, Ya Dukor a ‘Sowei’ at Kumala in Kabala Koinadugu District.
Sources informed this medium that, Ya Dukor is the head of the Bondo Secret society in that community. According to information, after the burial ceremony on that day, some members of the ‘Sowei’ secret society stormed Musu Jalloh’s residence to inform her as the suitable replacement and successor as ‘Sowei’ head after the death of her grandmother, Ya Dukor.
According to tradition Musu Jalloh is the first female grandchild and tradition demands that she must be the successor and should take over her grandmother’s society position.
Report further stated that after lengthy discussions Musu Jalloh turned down the ‘Soweis’ request of a succession.
Our team of investigators discovered that Musu refused to succeed he deceased grandmother owing to her professional career and religious belief.
Jalloh according to credible report went through female genital mutilation (FGM) which she considers as human rights violation because of it harmful practices.
Report told this press that, because Musu Jalloh was reluctant ‘Soweis’ left their house and came back at around 3 a.m in the morning and forced themselves into the house, and forcefully took Musu Jalloh away to the Bondo bush.
She was reported to have been raped by male secret society (‘Poro’) men on their way to the Bondo bush.
It could be recalled that ‘Poro’ society men are allowed to enter in the ‘Bondo’ bush if requested by ‘Soweis’.
One of them who preferred not to be named said Musu laid hopelessly with injuries all over her body and was bleeding profusely after she was raped.
Sources said, whilst ‘Soweis’ became drunken in the morning, Musu Jalloh escaped from the ‘Bondo’ bush and flee.
She was reportedly chased by ‘Soweis’, but was nowhere to be found.
According to rumor, their house was also vandalized leaving the lives of her family in miserable condition.
Her family was reportedly threaten and are currently in dilemma in the village due to her escaped.
Since that fateful day according to family sources, they have been searching for Musu Jalloh and she is nowhere to be found and called on the authorities to intervene.
Other sources said, Musu Jalloh was spotted in Freetown seeking medical attention, but has left the shores of Sierra Leone in fear she might be harmed or killed by ‘Soweis’.
