Fifty-five years old Christiana Jalloh a businesswoman made another appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown on a three count charges two ranging from domestic violence contrary to Section 2 (1) of the Domestic Violence Act 2007 and Larceny of Document of the title to land contrary to Section 7 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on the 7th July 2023 at Block MQ4 Murray Town Military Barracks in the Western Area in Freetown economically abused Suliaman Jalloh whom she is in a domestic relationship with.
Count two further stated that on the same date and place the accused psychologically abused Suliaman Jalloh with whom she is in a domestic relationship.
Count three further stated that on the same date and place the accused did steal one conveyance document dated 11th April, 1994 and requested at page 148 of volume 476 at the book of conveyance for a piece of percel of land situated at off Main Road Moriba Water Kaningo area Juba Hill Lumley Freetown property of Mr. Suliaman Jalloh
When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea taken.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh, led in prosecution witness number two Donald Macauley a police officer attached at the Family Support Unit (FSU), at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters Pademba Road Freetown. He recognised the accused and the complainant in this matter he recalled on the 14th January, 2025 he was on duty when the complainant Suliaman Jalloh came to the office and brought new development on a case he had once reported. The witness said the MCO crime Sergeant 11243 Conteh C assigned the file to him for further investigation he then obtained additional statement from the complainant prior to his previous statement the witness said he thereafter invited the accused to the CID Headquarters on the 20th January 2025. Himself together with DPC 14966 Kamara JB obtained voluntary caution statement from the accused in krio which was recorded in English language.
At the conclusion of the statement it was read over and explained to the accused in Krio language which she admitted it to be true and correct by afflicting her right hand thumbprint witness by DPC 14966 Kamara JB and he signed as the recorder the statement was produce and tendered in the court to formed part of the court records marked as exhibit A1-9.
On the 28th February, 2025 DPC 14966 and himself charged the accused with the offence she is standing trial on by using the same procedure as in the voluntary caution statement witness by DPC 14966 Kamara JB and he signed as the recorder the charge statement was produced and tendered in court to formed part of the court records marked as exhibit B1-3.
At this juncture the prosecutor sought for a short adjournment date for him to get proper conference with his witness.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Fornah adjourned the matter to the 26th June, 2025 for further evidence of the witness.Bail continue for the accused.
