Ibrahim Deen who is a staff at the National Youth Service (NYS) made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road court No.2 in Freetown.
He was standing on two count charges for malicious damage contrary to section 51 of the malicious damage Act 1861, and for a threatening language contrary to section 3 (i) of the public order Act No.46 of 1965.
According to the particulars of offence on the 3rd March 2025 at #37 Spur Road, Western Area, maliciously damaged one wooden door valued at seven thousand Leones(7,000) being property of the complainant herein named Valentina Norman.
Count two further stated that on the same date and place the accused person did make threatening remarks against the complainant, saying “ar go chap di domot en damage you” that is with intent to provoke her to commit a breach of the peace.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused person he pleaded not guilty.
Counsel representing the accused person applied for bail on behalf of the accused person that he is a Sierra Leonean, and a resident within the jurisdiction of Sierra Leone.
And that he has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to stand on his behalf and that he will not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses nor will he jump bail.
He made his application pursuant to section 79 3 of the criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
Magistrate Bangura granted bail to the accused person in the sum of three hundred thousand Leones with one surety in like sum surety and was asked to produce the recent NCRA identity card depicting his or her address in Freetown.
Bail was to be approved by the Deputy assistant Registrar while the matter was adjourned until 31st March 2025.
