Magistrate Sahr Kiekura of Ross Road Court No.1 has remanded Abdulai Sesay age 20 and Junior Frank age 26 at the Male Correctional Center on allegations of theft.
The accused Abdulai Sesay and Junior Frank were arraigned before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Ross Road Court No.1, East of Freetown on six count charges to wit conspiracy to commit a felony, Robbery, Assault, Wounding with intent and Wounding.
The particulars of offence stated that on Saturday 7th January 2023 at Mamba ridge in the Western Area in Freetown conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit robbery with aggravation.
On count two , both accused robbed Esther Monde Bangura one Vivo mobile phone valued at NLe5,500 (Five thousand Five hundred New Leones) equivalent to Le5,500,000 (Five million five hundred thousand old leones), wounded and assaulted the complainant Esther Monde Bangura in a manner thereby occaisioning her actual bodily harm
Led in her examination in chief by Deputy Superintendent of Police Osman M Bangura the complainant, Esther Monde Bangura said she is a student at UNITECH and recognized both accused at the dock and recalled on the date of the incident, while she was at home making a WhatsApp phone call when the second accused took her Vivo mobile phone and handed it over to the first accused person.
She said both accused ran to the next compound leaving her surprised and speechless.
She said she later came to her senses and started shouting thief.
The complainant further narrated that the witness number one, Mohamed told her that the accused are around and they’re searching for them.
She said later Mohamed saw the first accused and he grabbed him and one Kabineh removed the Mobile phone from the first accused and handed it over to her later on.
The complainant said at the scene the second accused person grabbed her trying to take the mobile phone from her and she was shouting for help when her cousin came she took the mobile phone from her while the second accused pushed her on the floor.
She explained that she hit her left leg were she sustained injury and the second accused was arrested, adding that she then went to PWD Police post where they issued her a police medical request form for her to go to the nearest hospital for treatment.
The complainant said she later went to the Police Station to endorse the medical request form which was produced for identification and marked as exhibit Z.
She concluded that statement was obtained from her and her witness by the Police and the said mobile phone was handed over to her at the station
Magistrate Sahr Keikura refused both accused bail and sent both of them to remand at the Male Correctional Center in Freetown along Pademba road.
The matter was adjourned to the 3rd February 2023.
