The Executive of the Central One Football Association (COFA) have raised major concerns regarding a ban imposed by the Western Area Football Association (WAFA) on the Premier League players who’re participating in the COFA league.
Philipson Cline-Cole, Chairman of COFA, sadly emphasized that the absence of these high-profile players has stocked the league to draw public attention and sponsoring deals.
He appealed to NSA for support in persuading WAFA to lift the ban.
He also announced that the COFA competition will commence on July 14, 2024, marking the beginning of the league’s season.
The executive accredited the Director of National Sports Authority (NSA), Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai Esq at his Signal Hill Road office in Freetown.
The purpose of the visit was one: to congratulate Dr. Abdulai on his new role and to do a familiarization with him of COFA’s operations and activities.
According to Cline-Cole and team, they have initiated the idea at the seminar by way of expressing their compliments to Saffa Abdulai and commending him for his developmental strides at the NSA since his appointment about two months ago.
They highlighted that COFA’s primary mission is to promoting football talents and organizing competitions across various age-categories.
They pointed out that COFA is facing significant financial deficits, relying mainly on members’ contributions and gate receipts for funding.
They brought the issue of their playing venue being in a poor state over the years especially the rest room facilities and office spaces.
