The wise bird has been receiving messages and calls from unknown individuals since the embattled opposition of the All People’s Congress Honorable Mohamed Bangura went on radio claiming to be a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The situation forced some members to meet the bird personally to express their anger and dissatisfaction over the news, given that he has not for once being a member of their party and not even now.  They insisted that he is not recognized as their member until the needful is done.

One senior member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) name withheld said the party is working in line with its constitution, Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC), and the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone that whosoever wants to join their party should do so by following the laid down regulations including consulting the party hierarchy for their approval.

The member went further to say that, there are rules and regulations in every society  that  governs the operations of its members, so also are political parties where rules and regulations govern their activities and anybody who contravenes them will face the full force of the law.

The member also told the bird that, nobody will use the PDP to promote his/her political agenda.

The PDP needs people because according to him, election is about number, not just number but meaningful number. So for anybody from the blues to say he/she is a member of the PDP without going through the due process is wrong and the party Executive will not accept such membership.

“The party is bigger than any member and we will not want a situation wherein a handful of people hold the party to ransom at some point for personal gain,” the aggrieved member said.

The member cited the national Constitution which he says, is very clear about the membership of a person in any political party; ‘that no one person can be a member of two political parties at the sometime.’ Presently, he said, Honorable Mohamed Bangura is in Parliament on the ticket of the All People’s Congress (APC) party, and so he cannot be a member of the PDP at the same time.

The wise bird will continue to watch how things will be unfolding in this Kingdom.
