The many redundant staff of the Sierra Leone Parliament has boasted that they still have faith in their clerk of Parliament, Hon Paran Umar Tarawally.
According to them, Paran Tarawally will do the needful and consider them to either secure their jobs again or pay their end of year benefits.
Some say, they have worked for years while some have lost their lives after their redundancy, a situation that has brought lots of controversy.
Other ex-workers are now parading the streets with no jobs while others are in parliament daily to beg for them to be reincorporated in Parliament.
“Paran is a Christian and he can help us restore our past glory. We have confidence in him and he will help us again,” they said.
It could be recalled that, after the redundant of these Parliamentary staff, Paran and the Speaker were at each other’s throats which led to Speaker Bundu’s resignation just few months agao.
Some of his party members had never been happy when Speaker Bundu resigned, noting that he has a wealth of experiences in parliamentary processes and an acumen in procedural constitutional matters.
Before his resignation the Speaker of Parliament had stated in a commentary that he had written about that, the litany of vile allegations against him is a public relations attack meant to divert attention from the alleged employment scandal rocking Parliament.
He disclosed that corruption always fights back, ever since it was made evident that the Parliamentary Service attempted to usurp the power of the Parliamentary Service Commission on the issue of redundancy.
He said the online commentary was a revenge for the exposing of gross administrative malfeasance in the House of Laws.
He went on to say that without explaining the meaning of its caption “Sexual Gatuzo?” the narrator had accused the Speaker of sexual exploitation and abuse without any proof.
He said having listened to the commentary, one was left with no doubt that the content was meant to divert attention from the prevailing alleged employment scandal rocking parliament and the invisible hands behind the move which bent on subjecting Mr. Speaker to public ridicule.
The Speaker informed that the claim that most of the so-called accusers were female staff and MPs could not stand the test of time because they were faceless and “concocted.”
According to Speaker Bundu in as much as the main purpose of the post was to divert public attention from the grave allegations of corruption against the Clerk and his wife who seemed to believe quite wrongly that the Speaker had helped Anti-Corruption to unearth the financial scandals in Parliament even though the issues fully dominated the public domain for all to see.
He said the Speaker was way above being a sexual predator.
As the commentary went on, “he who comes to equity must do so with clean hands, it’s an insinuation by the blogger that corruption is covertly fighting back and the Speaker is a target.”
“Who is coming to equity, how and why is the subliminal anchor of that Justice TV Online post.”
He said if there were any moral questions to be answered, let it began with what was before the ACC on the stewardship of the Parliamentary Service.
“You cannot use the argument of morality to undercut the law when evidence abounds that legally the abuse of office amounts to conflict of interest, and embezzlement and corruption is rupturing the administration of Parliament.”
