It has been a while now the wise bird has been studying the activities of the Sierra Leone Police relating to the situation of drugs and other criminal related activities in the country.
As a result, the Parrot came to the realization that the reason why the problem of drugs and related criminal activities are still very difficult to fight is because many citizens including those in higher positions are hell bent in the illegal and dreadful business of drugs in the country.
This awful situation has led the most respected animal to spread its tentacles in every part of the country, given that the recent Kush drug has affected wider population of those considered being the next generation.
Very recently, the antenna of the bird pointed to the eastern part of the country to be specific in Kenema where it was reported a police officer by the name of Augustine Tamba Saffa and his girlfriend Isha Conteh were arrested for unlawful possession of a prohibited drug, and both of them were charged with the offense of possession of unlawful drug without lawful authority.
It was revealed that on 1st September 2025 at Yakama Street, New Site in Kenema Eastern Province, the two were allegedly found in possession of seven hundred and ninety-nine (799) wraps of cannabis sativa without authority.
The matter according to report was transferred here in Freetown and was presided over by no nonsense Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No.1 Freetown.
The report further states that Magistrate Jah refused bail to both accused.
The question most people including the wise bird are asking is why police officers are always at the center of controversies?
When it comes to armed robbery, the police are involved, drugs the police officers are named, and rape cases police officers are involved while they’re also mentioned in Kush matters.
Does this mean the problem often emanate from the recruitment process? Those responsible did not do proper investigations before recruiting?
The bird is not happy with the situation, because it gives the noble institution (police) a very bad repetition in and out of the country.
It is an established fact that in every organization there are bad eggs, even in the field of journalism bad eggs are found.
But the rate at which it is now in the police force is a course for concern to the general public for which something has to be done with immediate effect otherwise people in this small kingdom will continue to lose confidence in the force claiming to be a “force for good.”
