The MP from Kambia, Hon Abdul Karim Kamara, has stated that politicians are not making politics attractive to the people due to what is unveiling in the nation.
He said good leadership was not about ‘grandiloquent’ but the impact an individual creates to change the narrative is the nucleus.
He said this was what distinguishes the Opposition Chief Whip, Hon Abdul Karim Kamara, among other leaders in the country.
This gentleman, he referred to himself, has become resilient to ensuring that the people live better lives through his advocacy as well as innumerable developmental strides he has implemented for the common good.
In the late hours of Saturday 20th January 2024, he visited Africa Young Voices (AYV) and in one of their programmes’ AYV Peace Platform’ Hon AKK was being interviewed to make his submissions about the progress of the country.
During the interview, many believe, he was very tenacious to speak the truth to power as he stated it clear that, they as (politicians) have not done justice to the ordinary people considering what they(the poor masses) are going through to get a living.
The political impasse is not created by the supporters but is created by the political actors, he claimed.
Opposition Chief Whip lamented on the basic needs of the people as, he said, currently, there are no good schools, no sophisticated health facilities, food insecurity and inflation.
The Opposition Chief Whip categorically said that, although the government had proclaimed to meet their needs but the inverse is seen.
Hon Abdul Karim Kamara unavoidably made it known that one of the reasons the current administration is struggling to develop the country is because they are so ‘revengeful’ as well as ‘vengeful’, as described by his words.
It was, he said, vengeful spirit, that they [ SLPP] brought into governance and that has paved the way where the country is [today].
He cited an example, during the Transitional Report and the Commission of Inquiry whose reports, he believed, were full of hate speeches, with clear demonstration of partiality that targeted some North- Westerners to be eliminated.
Conclusively, he strongly called on all political figures to stop the brain-drain syndrome but to help establish a platform in which all politicians could come together as one family.
With this, he said, it would create an enabling environment where the people could see them as leaders with purpose and that will help to de-escalating the political tension in the country.
