Those who have tasted power and know its sweetness will never want to leave or lose it, so they will go the extra mile to maintain it.

And most of those in power never believe that it is not meant for one person which is why they will fight tooth and nail to cling to it. And that PAOPA situation often brush the way for the struggle with those outside wanting to force their way in.

But the bird knows that power is not meant for one person and power must be handled with maximum care if one wants to enjoy it, but a good number of people do not know that.

I know people will like to ask the bird why the long explanation, it is nothing more than what he has noticed going on in the governing Sierra Leone People’s party (SLPP) concerning their ongoing lower level elections.

Don’t tell me you don’t know that most of them did not end up peacefully and in fact some of them were even cancelled or postponed pending a rerun.

This situation has created serious problem within the party as some members are supporting their respective candidates for various position. Bra Parrot believes this situation will lead to bad development that will even affect their chances for future elections if not handled with the seriousness it deserves.

The bird has been told that, the party has conducted a fraction of its elections including Zonal, Sectional, Constituency and District Executives across the country.

The Regional Executive elections are slated for 17th June 2025 across the five regions of the country.

The bird was also informed that, the Young Generation Leader election will take place on June 19th 2025, in the second city of Bo, the elective election for members of the National Women’s Council will be held on the 20th June 2025 in Pujehun town according to information, while the National Delegates Conference that will bring in new Executive to man the party’s affairs will be held on the 25th and 26th July 2025 at the Bintumani Conference at Aberdeen and date for the Convention to elect the Leader and Deputy Leader who according to the party’s Constitution will automatically become the party’s flag bearer for the 2028 Presidential election, is yet to be announced.

The Parrot has been reliably informed that most of those in positions currently do not want to leave power honorably and they are doing everything in their power to maintain their position which has apparently intensify the struggle with those who are challenging them.   The bird was told that, the incumbent Regional Chairman of the Western Region Hon. Manso Dumbuya is seeking re-election.

Chairman Manso Dumbuya according to information will be challenged by the dynamic current Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon. Ibrahim Towa Conteh and Rev. Smart Senesie.

It is also clear that, the Deputy Commissioner for National Commission for Privatization Batilo Songa is going for the position of National Chairman, Md. Josephine Rogers will go for the Women’s Leader position, the Deputy Minister of Technical and Higher Education Aziz Sarjor Kamara will be vying for the position of National Secretary for the party.

The bird was also reliably informed that, the incumbent Dr. Alex Prince Harding and the power house of the party (Secretary-General) Umaru Napoleon Koroma is also not seeking for re-election.

No matter what, the wise bird has tremendous respect for some people in society for their great contributions to national development.

Elderly people used to say if one doesn’t want to be among those who would be asked to pack chairs at the end of the dance, then he/she must leave the show before day breaks.
