The old wise bird is of the view that our strength as a nation and our core values all depend on the establishment of strong institutions by the government.
The ultimate aim of every government in power is to restore Sierra Leone’s glorious and prosperous past spanning from the 60s, 70s and 80s when things were relatively better with sound economic footing.
But it’s unfortunate that in our own Republic such aim has ever remained to be a mere illusion because despite everything Bra Parrot has done and is doing in his power to see that those at the helm of affairs do the needful in the best interest of the nation has fell in deaf ears.
The most respected statesman has talked, written and in most cases discussed issues with friends about the welfare of the people and the development of the country in general, but that efforts seem to have yielded no significant results.
The bird has noticed of late that President Bio with all sincerity seems not to be following the stewardship of his ministers, deputies and other appointees whether they are living up to their respective tasks.
And despite the outpouring public outcry of the non-performance of these public servants, the president has done little or nothing to take decisive action to remedy the situation, instead, he has kept adding to these dead woods especially in his Cabinet squandering taxpayer’s money with impunity much to the chagrin of the people and the detriment of the country at large.
A small country like Sierra Leone having approximately twenty (20) plus ministers and deputies and the president still making new appointments, is completely ridiculous to Bra Parrot who believes that such is just a way of creating new positions for party supporters at the detriment of the state.
It is quite obvious that this huge number is not only going to force government to accommodate them but undeniably create a big dent in the budget, taking into account the present state of the country’s ailing economy.
As a patriot, the bird believes that this problem will remain until His Excellency stops making new appointments all in the name providing jobs for the boys which by all indications has serious impact on the economy.
Bra Parrot very well knows that the president has the constitutional mandate to appoint or sack whosoever he wants but should be done in the interest of the country, because every appointment goes with heavy financial implications and shouldn’t be at the detriment of the economy.
The patient bird is watching!
