Since the much talked about Free Quality Education (FQE) came into being, the wise bird has been monitoring the activities of schools, and by extension schools authorities.
Meanwhile, the bird has noticed that, most of the problems in some of these schools are caused by the very authorities because some are not competent, not qualified and lack the required experience to handle the running of these institutions.
The information reaching the bird has revealed that, the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education has suspended a total of (12) twelve principals for failing to submit what they called Continuous Assessment Scores of students.
According to the report, a total of 148,000 CAS entries were reportedly submitted to WAEC but only 97,817 were complete results returned to the ministry.
The report furthered that the WAEC Act of 1984 may soon be reviewed to enhance government’s oversight to ensure quality performance, intensify monitoring and also compliance in schools.
However the report states, the ministry is planning to host a national stakeholders meeting to improve English Language performance and how to reduce exams malpractice.
The most respected animal always wanting to get a balance story, spoke to some people and most of them expressed their views in anger against the suspended principals. They accused those principals of depriving a good number of students that did not take the exams.
Some principals, the people further charged, are only interested in subsidy and admission bribes, adding that most of them are only occupying those positions because of party affiliation.
“This is the time for the government to act decisively before more children suffer similar fate,” the people told the Parrot in an angry manner.
The bird is waiting to see after the suspension what next will happen to those principals.
