In a bid to revolutionize public service delivery in Sierra Leone, the Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced a crucial Stakeholders Consultative Meeting on the draft Public Service Policy.
The event is set to take place on Tuesday, 13th August 2024 at the Foreign Service Academy in Freetown
The meeting will mark a significant milestone in shaping the future of governance in the country.
The purpose of this meeting is to gather insights and feedbacks from key stakeholders on the draft policies across the Public Service.
By adopting an inclusive approach, the PCS aims to ensure that the Public Service Policy reflects the diverse needs and perspectives of all stakeholders involved. This collaborative effort provides stakeholders with a unique opportunity to contribute their expertise and perspectives towards shaping policies that will enhance public service delivery.
The draft policy outlines several key objectives, including clarifying institutional relationships, revisiting the statutory role of the PSC, enacting the first ever Public Service Regulations, geared toward gender mainstreaming, disability issues, and digitalization, as well as modernizing systems and procedures for effective and efficient service delivery.
The ultimate goal of the Public Service Policy is to lay the groundwork for a legal framework for managing the public service, with the policy serving as the basis for the development of a draft Publish Service Bill for enactment by Parliament.
Speaking on the importance of the upcoming Stakeholder Consultative Meeting, PSC’s Communications Manager, emphasized the need for collective input from stakeholders to shape policies that will drive positive change in the public sector.
