Bra Parrot was on his usual fact finding mission in the city when he suddenly saw chains of vehicles at Portee Junction, by Bai Bureh Road, east of the capital.
Out of curiosity, the wise bird quickly swooped low to properly know what was going on.
Guess what!, In between the vehicles there were dozens of traffic police officers and their Road Safety comrades formerly called Road Wardens and now Road Safety Corps in road games restlessly meandering colleting the green coloured paper and ‘De Mamy’ (the new twenty leones note) from drivers in their operations that they dubbed: “routine check” for traffic rules violators.
After they have waited for too long, the disgruntled passengers in the vehicles who were sweating incessantly disembarked and started to haul all kinds of invective words like this bunch of ‘ayanpees’ (meaning bunch of thieves) on the street, shameless people, crooks and so on and so forth.
The respectful bird buried his head in his feathers not to hear or continue to see the disgraceful atmosphere.
And when the scene started to become chaotic with a huge number of bystanders and passer-byes rushing to know what was going on at that moment, the wise bird quickly melted like salt in water unnoticed to tell IG Fayia Sellu that his men on the streets are constantly misbehaving and extorting money from drivers for their personal benefit.
Even where there is no case they have they to manufacture one. Before now people used to praise the traffic corps as innocent lads that are so decent and God fearing but they have been indoctrinated and have even superseded their masters in the game.
