Like many other important personalities that deserve an overwhelming welcome, the rosy welcome of Pa Alhaji Ibrahim Mans Kanu was one of its kinds that thrilled the east of Freetown and beyond. The Nabawe Sheriff Mosque at Old Road, Calaba Town was jam-packed with dignitaries from all walks of life including Islamic scholars, friends, well- wishers, students and all class of people were in jubilant mood to welcome Pa Alhaji Kanu who safely and soundly returned from pilgrimage to the Holy land of Mecca.
In his opening remarks, chairman of the memorable ceremony that was full of Islamic song and glorification of Allah, Issa Galey one of the renowned scholars in the country referred to Alhaji Kanu as immaculate, dynamic and highly intelligent that possesses admirable characters worth emulation. He succinctly elucidated on their boyhood togetherness history coupled with their immense contributions to national development in diverse ways, including the propagation of Islam.
Many other important scholars including Alhaji Sheik Fomba Swarray, a well-known scholar for his oratory prowess who is also one of the best renowned Islamic propagators in the country also made very significant contributions that climaxed the gathering with intellectualism.
In his congratulatory and appreciation address, Pa Alhaji Ibrahim Mans Kanu succinctly narrated his experience at the Holy Land of Mecca, disclosing that it was tedious and very challenging that entails certain pivotal elements such as finance, physical health, and other issues.
He extended profound gratitude to all those who endeavor to brave torrential rains in the name love to witness the ceremony, the government, the Hajj committee, the United Council of Imams [U.C.I ] and all those who contributed in diverse ways to make his dream come true.
Alhaji Kanu also pleaded with government to make provision for journalists to be part of any Hajj mission in the future so that they will come and fully educate the general public on the event properly.
“It is a secret but very challenging if one really wants to get all the exercise done,” he stated.
