Sierra Leone’s qualifying to Morocco’s AFCON 25 is in deep dilemma.
The Leone Stars had played and finished on a sad note registering a 1-1 draw against Chad in a decisive 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier last Wednesday, at the Stade de Epimbe in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
The match saw midfielder Abu Dumbuya scoring a goal for Sierra Leone in the 29th minute, showcasing his skill and finesse.
Chad rebounded back quickly, with Mahamat Thiam effectively converting a penalty in the five minutes of play thereby capitalizing on an infringement on Sierra Leone’s goalkeeper, Francis Koroma.
The outcome of this match places Sierra Leone in a dangerous position, now requiring a favour from Group leaders Ivory Coast, who have already secured their qualification to Morocco next year.
Sierra Leone will now need Ivory Coast to win over Zambia on Friday. And subsequently
Sierra Leone must clinch a victory in their final group game against Zambia in Monrovia, Liberia, scheduled for the 19th of November, in order to secure qualification to the next Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Morocco.
if that’s possible it will be fine for Salone.
