If the news Bra Parrot has heard is anything to go by, then there are plans for three bigwigs in the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party former Vice President Chief Sam Sumana, 2018 and 2023 presidential hopeful Dr. Samura Kamara and Mohamed Omodu Kamara (Jagaban) to pitch tent for the most touted 2028 general elections.
But what does that mean, is a question that has left the bird totally confused. Should the romoured plan works, it will give credence to the report that there are serious cracks in the party with everyone doing things on their own leaving party supporters in the dark fearing that the situation will dent their chances in 2028.
This clearly shows that the party is far from seriousness and has no plans to win the 2028 general elections.
The wise bird is a visionary he sees things far ahead even before they happen.
The Parrot has been carefully studying the political trend in the country and came to the realization that, the two main political parties, whenever any of them is in opposition, it always faces difficulties.
When the SLPP was in opposition, it was riddled by internal conflict that eventually cost them the 2012 general elections because they were completely disorganized and disjointed.
APC has now found itself in similar situation with the party fragmented into splinter groups.
To make matters worse, most of the senior members of the party have resigned their executive positions to become flag bearer, a situation if not handled properly will further plunge the party into quagmire.
Even though campaign has not been officially declared by those responsible, but one can see flyers, hand bills of those aspiring for various positions in the party all over the streets of Freetown.
But Parrot will not blame them for that because PPRC being the body responsible to regulate the activities of political parties is not actually doing its work as expected.
With the unfolding scenario, nobody needs to tell the wise bird that if the APC fails to put its house in order, some senior members of the party will not only join forces together but will also reduce their chances for future elections because everyone will be working in his or her own interest instead of the interest of the party.
The bird has noticed of late that the issue of Sam Sumana’s legibility to contest for the flag bearer is still unresolved and Dr. Samura Kamara’s call for Electoral Justice has since been rebuffed and isolated by his own party and Jagaban with is Islamic campaign messages is another issue altogether.
When the bird sounded the views of some senior members within the party structure, they were bold enough to name those they believe are responsible for the problems in the party including the Secretary General, Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya, deputy chairman Osman Foday Yansaneh and that the National Chairman has no total control over the executive.
They went further to say if the situation continues; it will be disastrous for the APC to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
The bird is watching closely how things are unfolding within the APC party.
