Nothing seems to be happening in Sierra Leone since we came out from the controversial June 2023 elections. The situation on the ground at present is getting much worse than ever.
President Bio, which direction are you heading this nation to? Because I am seeing red lines from each and every sector of your government. The Bible in Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” It is a golden truth that the ordinary people have lost hope in your government. From critical lens, I will boldly say that your government took the wrong direction in running this small remote county.
Even the blinds are now seeing the reality on the ground. Suffering everywhere; everybody is feeling inner pain of your mal-administration. We have experienced hell in small part of planet Earth under this ‘Paopa’ Government.
What is happening? Mr. President, your people are now in the state of frustration because of the extreme poverty and extreme hunger which they are confronted with. Skyrocketing prices, inflation are nothing good home to talk about. Remember that bread and butter are one of your priorities, but we are not seeing either of the two. Prices of local foodstuffs are now skyrocketing. Absolutely, there is no price control as local commodities are escalating day by day. Everybody is getting confused as if the four cardinal points have met in our heads. What a nation! One percent of population is enjoying and ninety nine percent of the population is suffering. “The root cause of poverty is social injustice and the bad governance that abets it,” says Colin Powell.
Meanwhile, the fuel pump price per gallon is something that you need to give solid attention to. From what I am seeing so far, it is one of the key things this government is not ready to undertake. Thirty Leones per liter is too much. How many Sierra Leoneans can afford transportation in this kind of situation? Remember that schools have re-opened and parents have to provide lunch and transportation for their children.
Uniforms and other school materials are now expensive. Something needs to be done because parents are going through a lot these days. There will be a massive dropout of pupils from school if the system is not properly fixed.
A little effort has been done shortly in relation to this Kush drug. More needs to be done in other to free our youths from this situation. The massive intake of this Kush drug has made many youths to become homeless and hopeless respectively. The future of Sierra Leone is totally blind. Youths are dying every day due to the intake of Kush.
We have seen many videos on social media where Kush manhandled military officers and police officers as well. For the youths, it is their staple food as they have nothing to do with rice, reason best known to them. How this Kush is coming to this nation? This is the one million dollar questions Sierra Leoneans are asking. Mr. President, try to fix this Kush before we lose half of the youthful population in the country.
Coming to protection of lives and properties, the Sierra Leone Police really need to put hands on the deck to tackle this devilish armed robbery act more especially in Freetown and the South. Armed robbery in Bo Town is now a subject of discussion. Indeed, an idle brain is a devil workshop. The youths are also subjected to this. Armed robbery has taken a different trend in that part of the country. The youths need job Mr. President as it is something you should be handled urgently. This intake of Kush by youths can make them involve in anything stupid or involve in any criminal offences.
Conclusively, the masses are finding a breathing space to survive in this famine situation. Things should be done accordingly in order to ensure that food is in the kitchen for every household in the country. Logically, I agreed with Milton Friedman who says that the government solution to a problem is usually as bad as the problem. The situation is getting out of hands; you really need to stand with two legs and put this country in a better footing.
