In order to secure fitness for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, France 2024, the Sierra Leone delegation of Archery National team on Monday 6th November, 2023, bade farewell to the Deputy Minister of Sports, Kai Lawrence Mbayo at his Bishop House office in Freetown.
The delegation left yesterday Tuesday 7th November, to compete in the African Championship slated for the 9th to 12th November.
Meanwhile, the Technical Director, Norman Davies gave an overview of the Championship and introduced the delegation to the Deputy Minister.
He assured the minister that his Archers will do all within their mist to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris, France 2024, even though this is the first time they are taking part in such competition.
“We are going with one spirit, one mind, one vision and one determination. We are sure to come with medals from this tournament,” Norman added.
In his response, the Deputy Minister expressed overwhelming appreciations to the Technical Director for taking the delegation to the Ministry to chat and endorsement before leaving for Tunisia.
He appealed to the Archers to take the competition seriously and compete well.
“Remember, you are going as ambassadors for your country. I have no doubt in you. Go and make Mama Salone proud,” he appealed.
“On behalf of our President H.E Julius Maada Bio, my Minister Madam Augusta James-Teima, and myself, we wish you all the best of luck during the competition. We are waiting to receive the medals,” he added in anticipation
National Sports Authority Boss, Dr. Kenneth Brima witnessed the event.
The delegation comprised the Technical Director Norman Davies; Archers – Alfreda Yeanoh Kamara, Melvina Kpandeba, Abdul Lansana Kanu and Joseph Karimu.
