The wise bird saw it all coming because, it was nothing new in the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) elections that ended over the weekend at the Bintumani Hotel.
The same old pattern of doing things was the same old system that took place in that election.
What the wise bird noticed was that, the old guys wanted the pattern to change, but the younger guys who have little or no understanding about what the system was and still wanted to continue with the old system.
The fact of the matter is, in the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), it has been a perennial way of doing things i.e. from Secretary-General straight to the position of President.
According to the most respected animal, the system at SLAJ, has no other name to attach to it, but a system, no accountability and transparency in the system.
The Secretary-General, make no mistake is the most powerful person in every Association, Organization or Club, if automatically he/she becomes the President in an election, he or she knows how to manipulate the system to his or her advantage.
The system now in SLAJ, is like always old wine in new bottle.
What makes the bird jumped sky-high was when the bird got the news that, the Association has got a brand new Secretary-General to handle the Secretariat.
The wise bird only hopes that, the new Secretary-General will not be manipulated by those old guys.
If he allows himself to be used, it will be at his own detriment.
The wise bird will not even hesitate to say that, everybody is interested in SLE 2.5 billion(Old Leones) allegedly given to Association by the government as subversion.
The bird sounded the views of senior journalists about the outcome of SLAJ election.
About 75% are not in support of the ugly system as they referred to it, because it is just the same old story.
The bird is watching to see the angle the new Secretary-General will take.
Long live SLAJ!
