The Sierra Leone Basketball Federation (SLBF) has counseled and warned individuals and organizations involved in basketball activities across the country, cautioning against hosting tournaments, running academies, or carrying out related programs without the awareness of the Federation.
In a press released on Monday, the Federation said it has observed a rise in unauthorized basketball initiatives that are not registered with SLBF and not conducted in “While we appreciate and encourage efforts that contribute to the growth and popularity of basketball in Sierra Leone, it is important that all activities be done in line with the regulations of the Federation.
Meanwhile, the Federation emphasized that disciplinary action will now be taken against any individual or group that fails to comply with its directive.
Although SLBF said it welcomes participation and contributions to the sport, it stressed that proper procedures must be followed to ensure structure and accountability within the basketball community.
“The Federation has no issues with anyone’s involvement in basketball, but we strongly advise all stakeholders to follow the proper procedures and do the right thing,” they said.
