Management of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) wishes to inform the general public that the information currently circulating on social media alleging the smuggling of sixteen (16) containers through the port is false, misleading, and completely unfounded.
The Authority categorically states that no such incident has occurred within its operational areas. The circulation of this false information is a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and undermine the credibility of the Authority and its management team.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority wishes to clarify the following facts:
- The Authority does not operate on Sundays, contrary to the false and misleading reports circulating on social media, as all official port operations are strictly conducted on designated working days only.
- No container number or relevant shipment details have been provided in the false reports to substantiate the claims.
- All cargo entering or leaving the port is handled under strict customs and security supervision, with advanced tracking and clearance systems jointly managed by the SLPHA, the National Revenue Authority (Customs Department), the Sierra Leone Police, and other security agencies.
The SLPHA maintains its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law in all port operations. We therefore urge members of the public to disregard such baseless information and rely only on official communication from the Authority’s verified media channels.
The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority remains focused on its mandate to promote efficiency, integrity, and modernization of Sierra Leone’s port operations in line with the Government’s national development agenda.
