There has been a political stalemate and uncertainty for quite some time since president Bio attained power in this country in 2018 of the general elections. Without delving much into the nitty-gritty of the genesis of the unfolding ding-dong battle between the two giant political parties, the SLPP and the APC in the country, the stark reality is the unhealthy political situations in the country is by all indications a recipe for retrogression.
Before the 2018 general elections, that ushered in President Bio in office, many Sierra Leoneans were highly optimistic that by virtue of his orientation as retired senior Military personnel coupled with his experience as person that has been in that office, he will translate his discipline and knowledge to make a difference if elected as President. But the unfolding political scenario in the country since he came to power six years ago has surprised many Sierra Leoneans. And the fact remains that development of any nation hinges on the type of political system. Little wonder Salone is swinging in line with the unstable political system. There is no denying the fact that every facet of life has been engulfed in problem and the intention of our development partners and other philanthropists to prop the country is cascading at the tick of the clock. Since that time these two political parties have been at each other’s neck and the unhealthy political situation has stagnated development in all spheres. The frustrating situation is that many patriotic citizens are really disgusted with this kind of current political system where cost of living is sky rocketing at geometric rate without corresponding with salary rate of workers and even those in the business sectors are feeling the negative aftermath and the general populace have all been subjected to undesired suffering. For now even the capitalists, the middle class the low class are suffering indicating the seriousness of the situation in the country. In fact the suffering of Sierra Leoneans is no more a story as the President himself has sounded it many times in his official address to the nation back by promise that situation will change for the better, but no one knows when. And with the current prevailing situation in the country and in the World at large many citizens are pessimist about this promise coming to fruition during his regime which is why they are agitating for a change especially from the opposition for which they are at par with the SLPP and have indulged into so many defiance actions including strike, boycotts and other negative actions in and out of the country to vividly portray their resentment to the Bio’s Regime to the nation and the World at large. Since that time SLPP has been battling with the APC conundrum which has permeated almost all facets of life in the country. And until SPP drops the ego, paranoid and do the needful, it will continue to bite and pain us to our bones. Trust!!
