The Wise Bird always moves from place to place in search of news and for a convenience place to sit on.
It is no secret that the most respected, patriotic and uncompromising bird loves to sit on trees.
But since the historic Cotton Tree was brought down by a heavy storm almost a year ago, Bra Parrot has been finding it very difficult to have a beautiful tree to be sitting; so the bird is restless.
Fortunately for the brave bird, recently, he has seen a beautiful tree in the east-end of the Capital, Freetown precisely at the Fourah Bay Community in a cemetery called Akum-Muama-Dan Kennedy Street, Freetown.
As the Wise Bird was sitting on top of a tree there, he saw a large crowd in the cemetery for a burial.
And the Wise Bird overheard some members of the community saying in anger that the SLPP is very much ungrateful; “they have neglected our community in totality.”
Upon hearing that, the Wise Bird went closer to them to get more info.
From what the Wise Bird gathered from the people’s discussion was that some of the community people are not happy about the present situation in the country and by extension, are not happy with the SLPP itself as a party.
The Wise Bird also overheard them saying the Fourah Bay community was one of the strongholds of the party during, almost, every elections in the Capital, Freetown.
But today since the party came to power, senior party members have turned their backs against the community.
They further disclosed that not a single development in the community is there to point at since the party came to power. Light system is zero, pipe-borne water also equals to zero; road network in the community is nothing to write home about.
The people at the cemetery on that day, however, cited Dan Street, Canton Street and Davies Street which are still in dilapidated state.
According to them, they are at the moment in a shameful position as supporters of the party.
Since the party came to power, they say, neither the President nor a senior member has ever visited the community officially to show a sign of appreciation to supporters after elections were conducted in the country.
Some of them are blaming the Constituency Executive for not calling meetings to educate supporters for them to know the problems in the community.
They say, “they [ greener politicians] will only come to the community during election time to continue to fool us.”
Some of the members went on to say that the SLPP they used to know is not the SLPP of today; they cited the hardship in the country that is affecting people now on a daily basis.
The Wise Bird will bring its readers more on this discussion in the Parrot’s page in the next edition.
