Bra Parrot loves development that is more the reason he always supports any government in power that brings development to the people and the country in general.
The wise bird studied English as his major subject and knows that, the word development is a relative term; it can be negative or positive development.
From the look of things, most of the developments which the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has brought since assuming power in 2018, are negative, to say the least.
Take the case of the railings that were erected by the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) on some major streets including Sani Abacha Street aimed at pushing back stubborn traders from street centers, or reducing traffic congestions has never served its purpose as the wise bird understands that it was merely done in the name of politics to deprive the traders particularly those perceived to be supporters of the APC because they’re in the majority.
What has however beating the imagination of the brave bird is that, after spending billions of leones to erect those railings, they’re again removing them without explanation.
What a waste of state resources?
As far as SLPP rule is concerned, the people of this country are not surprised because they used to setting negative records without the least consideration to its ramifications whether on the people or the country.
The other burning issue is the question of government’s new buses and their transport fares. According to information, the government’s price for using the buses within the municipality is Nle10 per person pole to pole while private buses is Nle 5.
In a case like this, what do you expect the private transport owners to do?
As usual the brave bird went out to sound the views of citizens on the issue of the price and the removal of the railings at Sani Abacha Street.
And those people Bra Parrot spoke to expressed disappointments and shock over the behavior of the SLPP government saying they have not come to help the people instead, they are here to add more hardship on them.
Private bus owners the Parrot talked to have vowed that if the government stands by the price it has announced, they too will increase theirs.
What the concerned bird is seriously envisaging is a very big problem between the private transport owners and the government on one side and passengers on the other hand.
Governments, world over have the responsibility to take care of the welfare of their people, anything short of that is a disaster for them.
The Brave bird is therefore advising the government to re-think on the price of the buses to avoid any ugly situation in future that will be hard to control.
