Since the poor construction was done at the East End Police round-about and at the Goderich Street, the Wise Bird and the general public have been raising concerns in respect of the work done at the two places but nobody cares and all cries fall in deaf ears.
Both the government and the institution responsible for roads in the country all keep sealed lips on the issue leaving citizens to suffer.
Less than six(6) when the poor road construction took place along Fourah Bay Road, the portholes have increased more than before. That is a clear case as the work was poorly done by the contractor.
Billions and billions tax payers’ monies are all wasted in the name of constructing a road which is not even one (1) kilometer long.
The Wise Bird knows that, the government will not take any action against the contractor because he maybe a party member and so might still be in the good books of the government.
As for the authorities at the SLRA, they will never raise a concern for fear of them being sacked because the contractor might also be in the good books of the government.
The Fourah Bay Road approaching East End Police is a case in point. The place is now a pool for wasting feet and shoes by the traders around that area to the disadvantage of peaceful citizens and motorists plying the Fourah Bay Road.
The Wise Bird has noticed of late that, the only two main roads lying on the central of the capital are nothing to write home about; the pot-holes are more than the feathers of the Wise Bird that nobody will be able to count.
Not that SLRA and other authorities cannot see the damage on the road but because the contract may be a politician they set blind eyes on the road.
The Wise Bird will ask this question without hesitation that, what type of legacy the SLPP government will leave in the areas of road construction.
As usual, the bird will go out to sound the views of people on very important national issues; all those the bird spoke to described both the government and the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) as both unserious and irresponsible.
They went further to say that, newspapers have written about the poor construction of the roads especially that of the Fourah Bay Road but no action has ever been by both the government and SLRA.
So, the people cry to the Wise Bird as they too confirmed of the number of pot-holes on the newly constructed roads in the city. Shameful!
They went further to tell the bird that, it was better the road was left as it was before the construction; they have referred to the construction as fake construction.
The Wise Bird will never stop talking about the poor construction done on those roads and on the Fourah Bay Road approaching East End Police.
The problem the bird has now is the billions of Leones being wasted in the name of constructing a road.
