The wise bird has been flying the length and breadth of the capital of Freetown to actually know the reason(s) that attribute to traffic congestion in the city.
The most respected animal has been doing this for some time now. It was only few days ago when the bird came to the realization that, traffic hold-up in the city is coursed by two very important in situations in the country namely, the Sierra Leone Roads Safety Authority (SLRSA) and the Sierra Leone police(Traffic Division).
The wise bird has been reliably informed by senior government officials that the SLRSA is an institution established by an Act of Parliament to perform certain functions in the country.
Those functions include the registering of all vehicles by way of giving them licenses to ply the roads, to remove all abandoned vehicles from the roads.
But from the look of things they only concentrate mostly in collecting monies from the general public for the payment of licenses. And the other aspect of their responsibility is to remove abandon vehicles has been forgotten by the Authority.
All over the city one will see many abandoned vehicles from east to west parked on both sides of the road which makes traffic so deplorable in the city.
SLRSA is a very important institution but all the workers in that important institution are only there to amass wealth for themselves.
On the side of the police, whenever they want to collect their bribes from drivers, they ask them to park even in the middle of the road until their demands are met, and within that short period one can see a very long queue of vehicles and kekehs waiting to move.
The bird sounded the views of the drivers, passengers and passes-by they all expressed the same views just as those of the bird.
They even went further to say that the police are largely responsible for the traffic congestion coupled with the abandon vehicles on the roads of Freetown.
The abandoned vehicles are all over the city.
The bird will continue to blow the trumpet about this burning issue for the authorities to hear and possibly take appropriate action.
