Aminata Dumbuya who hails from Lungi town in the Port Loko district North-West of Sierra Leone will be reflecting on her lucky escape wherever she may be; following her escape at the hands of her captors senior ‘bondo’ women who had inter alia conscripted her forcefully into joining the society against her wish.
According to reports gathered by this medium, Aminata Dumbuya who was residing at Dumbuya Road in Lungi never wanted to be initiated into the Bondo female society due to the unsterilized instruments utilized during the process of initiation; but saved for her grandmother who had secretly nurtured the idea for Aminata to succeed her as ‘Sowei’ head of the exclusively female ‘Bondo’ society.
It is further revealed that young ladies who had gone through forceful initiation suffered lots of internal complications as these crude instruments used during initiation negatively affects their womanhood.
Rreport revealed that Aminata Dumbuya’s grandmother made a secret oath with her clan members and senior ‘bondo’ stakeholders that her granddaughter (Aminata) will eventually replace her after her demise based on the oath she had taken.
However, Aminata was never aware of such secret oath, as she was always at loggerheads with her grandmother who plotted against her initially to join the ‘bondo’ society. Aminata, sources added never forgave her grandmother for such despicable action, which she considered as a human rights violation on her part as she was openly opposed to the idea of becoming a ‘bondo’ initiate.
Aminata, report went on was a strong advocate against the ‘bondo’ society that most times forced young girls to become members and eventually ruined their future.
Reports disclosed that a bitter confrontation ensued between Aminata and senior stakeholders of the ‘Bondo’ women following the death of Aminata’s grandmother as they orchestrated a sinister succession plan for Aminata to automatically replace her deceased grandmother.
Traditional norms indicate that, there must be no vacuum in the ‘bondo’ society after the death of its predecessor and the one who has been identified as a successor must immediately assume the ultimate crown.
After the funeral ceremony of Aminata’s late grandmother, the ‘bondo’ women saw this as a perfect opportunity and orchestrated a sinister and forceful succession initiation ‘sowei’ ceremony in order for her to assume the mantle of leadership and automatically replace her deceased grandmother.
These ‘bondo’ stakeholders resolved to have a special meeting with Aminata on the pretense as if they were in sympathy with her; rather it was a ploy to force her succeeds her grandmother.
Aminata, this medium gathered was forcibly frog matched into the ‘bondo’ shrine to perform the rigorous traditional succession ceremony. Since she had gone through such awful experience she however resisted that led to serious confrontations which resulted into injuries during the fight.
According to further report she succeeded to escape from her captors who became aggressively disappointed with her as her stance for not succeeding her deceased grandmother. They considered her action as an affront and betrayal of an aged old tradition and customs, will hunt her generations yet unborn.
Aminata’s exact whereabouts remain in mystery following her escape; report monitored by this press within the confines of senior ‘bondo’ stakeholders indicate that these stakeholders are bent on destroying the life of Aminata with their black mystical powers that will eventually lead to her death; they consider it as the price she will pay for her disobedience.
