The Speaker of Parliament and Hon Mohamed Bangura have been on each other’s draw daggers.
This recent development follows the decision made by the Speaker to remove Hon Bangura from ECOWAS Parliament.
MP Mohamed Bangura had threatened for court action as he described the decision to quit him by his party as unlawful.
After the general elections in June general in 2023, the APC party opted to boycott governance at all levels in protest against what they perceived as an unfavourable presidential outcome.
Notably, Hon. Mohamed Bangura and Hon Thompson were the only MPs from the opposition APC party who chose not to follow the decision of their party and took oath as members in parliament.
The decision then had left many APC supporters feeling betrayed, labeling the two MPs as party traitors.
The SLPP party, known for its cunning tactics, understandably enticed Hon. Mohamed Bangura with privileges and opportunities, including a temporary appointment as an ECOWAS member of parliament.
However, on Mohamed Bangura’s enjoyment of these privileges was short-lived, saying he has now been removed from his position.
In a recent radio interview, Mohamed Bangura vocally blamed the Speaker of Parliament, Hon Chernoh Abass Bundu, for his removal without proper procedures being followed.
This blame game coincided with the swearing in of Hon. Abdul Kargbo and Hon. Mabinty Forna as members of the ECOWAS parliament from the opposition APC party.
This further fueled Hon. Mohamed Bangura’s frustration.
He expressed his anger during the radio interview and stated that “Are lef me case to God” ( I leave everything to God).
Some analysts have characterized Hon. Mohamed Bangura’s situation as he had been boarding on an ungrateful boat only to see himself ended up at a regretful destination.
