The new British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Josephine Gaud, and the Political Secretary of the British High Commission, Jack Burne, had on Friday 17 January 2025 paid a courtesy call on the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Segepoh Solomon Thomas at his office in Parliament, Freetown.
Welcoming the British High Commissioner to the Sierra Leone Parliament, the Rt. Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas appreciated the diplomatic visit and underscored the importance of Parliament towards the development of the State.
The British High Commissioner expressed delight on her visit.
She assured the Speaker that, her visit was to deepen the indelible bilateral relationship between the two nations.
During discussions, she spoke on issues regarding the current Bills being laid before the House, including the Safe Motherhood and Reproductive Health Act, The Child Rights Act and The Three Gender Bills.
A tour was done in the Parliament’s library, the Chamber of Parliament and the grave site of the First Prime Minister and First Executive President, late Sir Milton Margai and late President Siaka Probyn Stevens respectively.
The Rt. Hon. Speaker briefed the High Commissioner and her team on responsibilities as MPs.
