Wonders, they say, never end. Indeed, this is because Bra Parrot has never seen his best friend Mr. Speaker in such an angry mood until of late.

Who must have offended my good friend is my biggest guess. Since the fearless and patient Bird has spent almost half of his life around the notable House and knows every corner of the place, he quickly dashed there to meet his friend to ask him what the matter was.

But even before he got closer to the chamber, he overheard the Speaker the Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas addressing both Journalists and parliamentarians on the issue of Melvin Tejan Mansaray, the journalist who is said to have offended the House and its members.

From the look of things, the quiet animal straight away noticed that his friend, the Hon. Speaker was not confortable. The Speaker was no doubt in a very angry mood when he was addressing journalists and members on the issue.

In his statement, the Speaker described Melvin Mansaray’s conduct as contempt especially when he referred to members of Parliament allegedly as “USELESS.”

The most respected animal overheard the Speaker saying Melvin will not enter the precincts of Parliament and the House, and promised further actions against him.

Without wasting time to ask questions clever Bra Parrot knew straight away that little Melvin’s behavior must have annoyed his longtime friend.

Bra Parrot also overheard Speaker Thomas further saying that he has seen several analyses in reaction to his ruling on Melvin, and that many people have misconstrued the whole reason why he barred the journalist.

The Hon. Speaker went further to say that Melvin’s analysis on radio went beyond criticism, claiming that it was an insult on the integrity of the Honorable House and Members of Parliament.

In a very angry mood, the Speaker threw threatening remarks that if Melvin impedes his integrity as Leader of the House, he will not hesitate to take stiffer actions on him.

The Wise Bird again overheard the Speaker saying it is by his permission that journalists even sit in the gallery.

But what beats the imagination of the bird was when again the Speaker said in a very angry manner that, this will serve as a deterrent to other journalists.

From the clever statesman’s perspective, his revered friend’s statement was not just a statement or warning but a mere threat to journalists.

The bird did not do government as a “subject” but knows exactly how practically it operates because even though he has never hold public office in his entire life but has rubbed shoulders with the cream de la cream, movers and shakers and the influencers in this kingdom for a very long time. So you see how powerful Bra Parrot is, that is why he never fears empty threats. Let nobody try him ooh!

Considering the fact that the bird is au-fait with the operations of government that is why he is now lecturing those who feel they know better than him.

The clever animal knows very well that there are three arms of government which are; the Executive, Judiciary and the Legislative and journalists or media as the fourth arm though only in principle because of the closeness to power and their sacred role to monitor and reveals the ills in society.

No government world over works properly with accountability without the press, because if there is nobody to checkmate the activities of public officers, in no time the entire system will collapse. So the wise and patriotic bird therefore wants his good old friend to maintain his cordial relationship with the media practitioners so that together they all can make the country grow for the benefit of all and sundry.
