Forty year old Sheku Jimmy a supervisor luggage officer, thirty-eight year old Hassan Kamara, a cashier and forty-one year old Mohamed Kamara a cashier made another appearance before Magistrate Mary Julian Gbloh of Pademba Road Court No.5 in Freetown on two count charges to wit conspiracy to defraud contrary to law and embezzlement contrary to section 17 (1) (b) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, on a date unknown between 12th February and 1st April 2025 at Lungi International Airport Terminal Lungi in the Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom the Port Loko judicial District in the North West Region of Sierra Leone with intent to defraud conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a crime.
In count two, on the same date and place, the accused persons fraudulently embezzled sixty three Sea Coach tickets each cost $45 dollars all equivalent to seventy three thousand seven hundred and ten Leones (73,710,00) received by them without authorization from Sea Coach Express management.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons, no plea taken.
Sergeant 5598 Santigie Koroma led prosecution witness number two Micah Tanimu, a Technician attached to Sea Coach as operations manager, he recognized all the accused persons and recalled testifying on the previous date about an Orange Money transaction. The witness said he took a screenshot of the transaction and was produced and tendered in the court to form part of the court records marked as exhibit Z.
The witness said himself the I.T officer, and the first accused went to the Lungi Terminal and look for a quiet place and the 1st accused called the said Mr Bangura and the call was recorded in the phone conversation. The witness said they requested for the mobile phone of the first accused and they discovered that the said Mr Bangura has sent two tickets to the accused which they took screenshot of. He said they screenshot the ticket and sent to the first accused and was produced in the court for identification to form part of the court records. He furthered that they proceeded to the head office at Aberdeen for further investigation. The witness said they went to the head office and asked the accused person to wait. The witness said within five minutes the accused persons was at large upon that they went to Aberdeen Police Station where they made the report and statement was obtained from him. At this juncture, the prosecutor sought for a short adjournment date pending the tendering of the audio recording
Meanwhile, Magistrate Gbloh adjourned the matter to the 8th July 2025 while the bail continues for the accused persons.
