The political discourse in Sierra Leone is too noisy when Sierra Leoneans are going too far in their criticism in the name  of political party correctness. Indeed the toxic nature of politics has provided little opportunity for the  citizens to thrive on their national pledge of loyalty to their country but to their individual party.

Has the people of Sierra Leone gone too far in their criticism with no limitations in the name of free speech?

 

The two great political parties in Sierra Leone, the All People’s Congress Party (APC) and the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) have been polarised with harsh and sometimes with unreasonable and baseless criticisms that is being demonized by press scrutiny due to their role in our country’s retrogression.

 

I think tribalism and regionalism has played a great role in our country’s demise, but people are reluctant to accept the fact and refusing to deal with the vitriolic cause. It’s time Sierra Leoneans from all walks of life should think wise and be patriotic, putting country first.

The Proportional  (PR) representation System, Boundary limitations, and the dual nationality ( 2 Sim) Syndromes are an allergic topic for the people of Sierra Leone, but who is to be blamed?.

 

After more schism, it is a self inflicted ideology under the tactical leadership of the then leader and chairman for life Ernest Bai Koroma and his unpalatable offer of policy leadership in the Grand Old Party in disguise to his papacy.

 

Sierra Leoneans are in total extreme short – Sighted and devoid of constructive thinking as they can no longer reflect on history to serve as a heritage. The 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone which the crying Party is the real architect of the very default Constitution which is now the root cause of our toxic political party politics.

 

The bitter game play of the Dual nationality ( 2 Sim), the PR System, and the Boundary limitations only perpetuates the game change of the Grand Old Party but turn to be haunting the Architect of the system and invalidates the real game into self inflicted experience as the Irony of the game Is never lost.

 

The All People’s Congress Party (APC) branded itself as the “Party of Government ” for their dominance in governance as far as we can remember in the history of Sierra Leone. But that label is now peeling away as the party is undergoing turbulent years in the cockpit of opposition, and they are deliberately designing their party to make a virtue of their unpalatable politics.

 

With the testimony of the ongoing chaos of the various  discontented camps within the APC party, the Samura Kamara  Camp, the Sam Sumanah Camp, and the tentative rescue mission team of the Alfred Peter Conteh, fears are now growing in the disintegrated APC different party factions which is causing more strains to bring party members to a unified front under one label and one color.

 

But yet the party is still reeling on a long standing political turmoil which saw the court ruling offered Alfred Peter Conteh a precious chance to shelve the impasse, but yet some party supporters are totally against the ruling and the court rulings as legally questionable and morally distasteful to their party.

 

Something great in the Grand Old Party is missing as the dark reality of the Ernest Bai Koroma’s dynasty is showing and party members wants to know the root cause of the receptacle anti- party sentiment with members being alienated which is showing the dark reality of the Old dynasty.

 

With the passing of the PR System, the fury of the opposition APC party ignited and blame game becomes the order of the

day forgetting that, they channelled the cynical ploy of politics and now found themselves in the vaulting jingo of their historical party politics.

 

They have made an unrealistic agenda policies while trying to hide from the very consequences of their own policies, and dare not to tell the truth to the electorates.  The So – called 1991 Constitution has shown the reluctance of our political masters to be honest about the default of the 1991 Constitution. But the big question Sierra Leoneans should have in mind is ,  what happens with the Justice Cowan constitutional review reports?

 

What goes around must come around as accusing fingers are now pointing at the establishment with frivolous blames  largely for the growing crisis in Sierra Leone backed by their familiar villain – the Sierra Leone media.

 

Fundamentally, the opposition Grand Old Party should fully be aware that modern politics is about choices and whoever is in reigned of power must be regarded as the effective political operator.

 

If the Grand Old Party wants to regain the State House, it is wise they opt – out of their latest skirmishes the party is engulf in. They should put their house in order and sort out the furious discourse over the reform  proposals which seeks to redefine its agenda. If not, I wish them the worst of luck and they will be shocked at the coming general election result due to their unstable situation and their internal hissy – fit feud.

 

As for the establishment of president Rtd.Brigadier Julius Maada Bio, does he see himself as an ephemeral phenomenon in the ruling SLPP party or  see himself as a temporal  figure head of an enduring political tradition of the SLPP  rather than the founder of a new movement ” PAOPA” in the SLPP?  Its all remains to be seen as the race against time is counted come 2023.
