East End Lions are going to play their first match with a new popped up team, Battai FC, in the Sierra Leone’s Premier League 2023/24 on Saturday 4th October, 2023.
And that match will not be underrated as the young guys of Battai from Goderich village, west of Freetown, are said to be mesmeric on the pitch.
“Those boys could play well, and that we know very well; that is why our men must show up soberly for the game; we want a winning,” says a jubilant fan of East End Lions on the club’s training on Wednesday November, 1st, 2023, ahead of their clash on Saturday.
The team’s Fan Club is as determined and prepared as the technical team, being headed by Coach Charles Wright, a veteran football player and FC Kallon’s ex-coach.
“We are determined and ready than in the past; everyone knows our ability in the game, and this time we hope to make more inroads; we are expecting more sponsors and we have few new signings of players,” says, Mohamed Jojolie Kargbo, Public Relations Officer of East End Lions’ Fan Club.
The Lions have not only got to bluff with a new experienced coach, but have also brought in a dribbling-magic on the ball midfielder, Robinho, who was bought from Bai Bureh Warriors in Port Loko district, north-west of Sierra Leone. The east of Freetown’s team is also having a think-tank Premier League and professional star, Prince Barry, who has many caps for the national team, Leone Stars.
The Killers last won Sierra Leone’s Premier League of 2019/2020. The yoke on not winning the league in two seasons might be broken this time again and that could only happen with team- work and zest shown by the players.
The team’s managers are hoping to bring radiant smiles on the faces of their eager and expectant fans.
The Lions were having an evening training on their pitch, Trade Centre Field, at Kissy Dockyard, east of Freetown.
