Twenty-nine years-old Ibrahim Sankoh, who is a cleaner, made his first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road court No.1 in Freetown.
He was held for one count charge larceny caused on to a servant.
According to the particulars of offence on Thursday 16th January 2025 at a pharmacy at Connaught Government Hospital on Percival in Freetown, being a cleaner, employed by a Cost Recovery pharmacy stole fifty box of Immune boost capsules, one hundred boxes of Azithromycin tablets, forty boxes and 50 plus capsules and other assorted items equivalent to the total value of ninety three thousand nine hundred Leones(93,900) which are property of Fatmata Binta Bah.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused person but no plea was taken.
The Prosecutor Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai called three witnesses and the file was withdrawn for ruling.
Magistrate Kekura delivered his ruling. He said the prosecution in a bid to establish sufficient evidence against the accused person.
And so he called three witnesses in evidence including the formal witness who tendered various exhibits respectively.
The accused who was unrepresented was cross-examined.
Magistrate Kekura said in looking at the evidence adduced before the court, in its totality, including the statement of the accused had made to the police, admitting that the allegation made against him is true in the view of the confessional statement made by the accused person to the police including the statement of prosecution witness number one who is the factual witness.
And that the exhibit tendered convinced him that the prosecution had established sufficient evidence against the accused person to warrant the matter to the High Court.
He committed the matter pursuant to section 120 of the Criminal Procedure Act No.32 of 1965 and granted bail to the accused person in the sum of two hundred thousand Leones with two sureties in like sum.
