Regardless of the sad delays, the Anti -Corruption Commission (ACC) has swiftly started looking into the Sierra Leone Football Association’s corruption allegation against the current President, Thomas Daddy Brima, acting Secretary General, Mohamed Benson Bawoh and the finance officer, Ibrahim Bah who were being detained and probed over allegations of misusing more than $US720,000 thousand dollars.
There are reports of money allegedly being transferred to Daddy Brima’s personal bank account and contracts given out without following the right process in a press conference last April.
However, some football officials say the use of CAF funds to pay for government’s travel could hurt the trust in how football is run in the country under the leadership of Mr. Daddy Brima and Co.
As the investigation continues, many are calling for the SLFA to be more transparent and accountable for all missing monies over the years. They say the money should be used only to help football grow and not for other purposes.
Despite the integrity checks for the upcoming SLFA elective congress scheduled for August 2, 2025, some aggrieved football pundits, stakeholders and soccer fans are calling for an immediate investigations and High Court hearing from ACC before the congress.
