Rt. Hon. Dr. Mohamed Sidie Tunis, former Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament and current Member of Parliament for Pujehun District, has made a major contribution to the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) in Bo District, donating NLe860,000 in cash and motorbikes to strengthen the party’s grassroots operations.
The donation, presented on Sunday, November 2, 2025, in Bo City, included NLe 500,000 in cash to the SLPP Bo District Executives, along with 10 motorbikes for the Young Generation Leaders and 2 motorbikes for SLPP Artists, valued at a combined NLe 360,000. The support forms part of Dr. Tunis’ ongoing NLe 5 billion pledge to empower the SLPP’s structures nationwide, a commitment he has already extended to other districts such as Moyamba and east urban.
Dr. Tunis described the initiative as being in line with President Julius Maada Bio’s “Big Five Game Changer” agenda, particularly its focus on investing in the future through sustainable party and national development. He emphasized that building strong grassroots structures is key to maintaining the SLPP’s dominance and driving progress ahead of future elections.
During his visit, Dr. Tunis met with local party officials, supporters, and community leaders, reaffirming his commitment to advancing unity, service, and transformation within the SLPP. He also stressed the importance of empowering young people and strengthening local engagement to complement President Bio’s development agenda.
During the event, Dr.
Tunis highlighted two major areas guiding his nationwide outreach; deepening grassroots participation and supporting education and social awareness campaigns, particularly around drug prevention. Under his “Say No to Kush” campaign, he called on youths, artists, and community representatives to help fight the spread of drug abuse, warning that the nation’s future depends on the health and productivity of its young people.
SLPP Bo District Executives expressed deep gratitude for Dr. Tunis’ continued generosity and dedication to the party’s success. They described his donation as a major morale booster that will enhance their effectiveness and readiness for future political activities.
Several groups, including the Tunis Babies, Njala University Students, Bo Farmers Association, and Bo Traders Union, presented certificates of appreciation to Dr. Tunis in recognition of his leadership and support. They pledged continued loyalty to the SLPP and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the party’s victory in the 2028 elections and beyond.
The event concluded with music, dance, and celebration as SLPP artists, some of whom benefited directly from the donation entertained the crowd. The gesture further reinforced Dr. Tunis’ reputation as a loyal party stalwart and advocate for youth empowerment, grassroots development, and national unity.
