The Bo District and Bo City Councils launched last week govpaysl through afrimoney. The system is to ensure tax payers use technology to pay their taxes to both Councils through afrimoney and Qmoney.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Mayor of the Bo City Council, Madam Hawa Campbell said the Govpaysl is a digital platform that makes tax payment fast , transparent and easy, whether you are a small business owner, a large corporation or just someone doing civil duty, you can pay online through Afrimoney, get instant receipts and track payment.
” This is about more than convenience and trust. When people trust that their money is being handled properly, they’re more willing to play their part. The government and private sector systems are open and efficient, everyone wins”
The Deputy Mayor said they are not just launching a tax system but they are launching a new way of thinking about local governance.
She said they have been faced with challenges in the payment of revenue collection.
The Chief Administrator of Bo District Council described the launching as the best that has happened so far for the councils to raise revenue.
Vivian Senesie said, ” Today is a wonderful day in the lines of the two Councils. We are challenged with collecting the required revenue.If we fail to collect big revenue to enhance development, there is no need for us to exist.”
Vivian said some tax payers often say they find it difficult to stand in queue to make payments, others will say transportation to go to the bank is not small especially those paying for small money for business.
She said the system will reduce the burden of taxpayers but will create employment, among others.
The regional manager South – East for Africell , Khalil Fawaz said Africell is reliable and believes in development and empowerment.
He said Africell is celebrating 25 years in Africa, noting Africell is just the best in terms of providing services.
Fawaz said both Bo City and Bo District Councils are faced with challenges in the collection of revenue.
He also noted that Africell has partnered with Bo City and Bo District Councils to raise revenue for them.
He said taxpayers are expecting development, but if revenue is not raised, it will be difficult for development to be provided by both Councils.
He assured that afrimoney will be professional and do what is expected of them.
The Corperate Sales Manager, Afrimoney, Alfred Joseph Lavalie said Africell and afrimoney will provide E service provision at the comfort of customers.
He informed afrimoney was established in 2014 and that the system has helped in the transaction of money to many people in the country.
GOVPAY Chief Executive Officer, Dugba Kenneth said they came to solve the problem faced by the two Councils.
He said President Julius Maada Bio’s 2023 manifesto mentioned technology and innovation.
Dugba Kenneh said they have worked on technology that can be used to pay bills through two mobile companies for now without going to the bank, making people to stay at home and do it convinently.
Kanneh said it is difficult to see two or more mobile companies together but GOVPAY brought them together.
He said the government wants the new technology to succeed.
