On Thursday 15th May 2025 a suspect made his first appearance before Magistrate Shar Kekura of Pademba Road court no.1 for a treason trial. He was alleged that he conspired with other person’s unknown to overthrow the government of Sierra Leone by unlawful means.
Jalloh was standing trial before the court on two count charges of Treason contrary to section 3 (1) (a) of the treason and state offences Act 1963 Act No.10 of 1963 and misprision of treason contrary to law.
The charge sheet indicated that Jalloh on diverse days between 1st January 2024 and 13th March 2025 in Freetown, prepared to overthrow the government of Sierra Leone by unlawful means.
The charge sheet further says that Jalloh on various dates between 1st January 2024 and 31st January 2024, conspired with captain Aiah Aba senesie, Sergeant Bangura of Waterloo, Retired Sergeant Kamara and other persons unknown to purchase AK-47 riffles which were meant to be used by captain Aiah Abu Senessie and others to overthrow the government of Sierra Leone by unlawful means.
The charge further claims that the accused also agreed to contact police officers and military personnels for the purchase of the said riffles to overthrow the government of Sierra Leone by unlawful means.
That also Sallieu Jalloh contacted Retired Sergeant Kamara of Waterloo and told him that Captain Aiah Aba Senessie wanted to purchase an AK47 Rifles and in that endeavour forwarded Sergeant Kamanda phone number to captain Aiah Aba Senessie for riffles in order to overthrow the government of Sierra Leone by unlawful means.
It holds that Jalloh also contacted other persons unknown to purchase ammunition that was meant to be used by Aiah Aba Senessie and his criminal friends to overthrow the government of Sierra Leone by unlawful means.
Also the sheet further says that Jalloh on the 8 March 2024 instructed sandy Sesay and his men to be on standby to execute their anticipated power transition which was imminent.
The indictment further that Jalloh on dates, which are unknown exactly, between 26 November 2023 and 26 November 2024 in Sierra Leone well knowing that treason had been committed by captain Aiah Aba Senessie and others unlawfully concealed the said commission of the treason.
After the charges were read and explained to him no plea was taken.
He was refused bail and was sent to the correctional center until Monday 19th May 2025.
