The wise bird is steadily getting recognition from the general public at every tick of the clock. This is more the reason people have trust and confidence in all the news he publish.
Not a single day passes by without the bird getting news particularly from reputable institutions in the country some of which are unpleasant and very disturbing.
The latest is from the Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU) where the Principal allegedly excluded/dismissed over (200) two hundred qualified and long-serving staff for personal reasons.
From what Parrot has gathered, the affected persons have jointly written a strong worded letter to His Excellency the President for his urgent and swift intervention on the issue.
The letter states that after all the transformation at the University, staff members were asked to reapply, which the affected persons stated they did in good faith, but the result turned the other way.
The University Court met according to the letter and clearly instructed that no staff MUST be dismissed without due process.
Furthermore, the Minister of Education reassured the affected staff that, all individuals who were categorized by TEC and reapplied, will be re-interviewed.
After all the instructions from the University Court and the Minister, the Vice Chancellor and Principal of the University disregarded such directives and took a unilateral decision to dismiss the 200 staff allegedly.
The Principal has also allegedly failed to pay the following benefits; fifty-seven (57) months of unpaid rent allowance, five (5) years of promotion arrears, ex-gratia payment for staff with over 20 years of service and refunds of computer training deductions by the administration 3,000 new leones.
Against this backdrop, the affected persons are requesting an immediate suspension of all dismissal and recruitment action until an impartial investigation is completed with full enforcement of the Minister and the University Court’s instructions.
The wise bird will continue to monitor the situation to the letter because some of the affected staffs were dismissed because of party affiliation, allegedly.
